 Official Rules 2010


DERBY RULES                    


1. Name of Competition
The 2nd Annual Great Georgina Ice Fishing Derby.

2. General Fishing Area: The general area shall be the waters of Lake Simcoe only.

3. Duration of Contest : The Great Georgina Ice Fishing Derby is comprised of 2 weeks.
The 2010 dates are as follows: January 30, 2010 to February 14, 2010.

  • Opens at precisely 6:00 am on January 30th
  • Closes at precisely 6:00 pm on February 14th.

4. Prize Fish Classifications - “Eligible Fish”
Any Lake Trout, Whitefish, or Perch, caught by angling within the desig­nated fishing lake
during the hours of the contest by any qualified Derby contestant may be entered for judging
subject to all other Derby regulations. Anglers are encouraged to live-release any fish they
suspect will not be a winning fish contender or is not being caught for personal food consumption.
In order to protect fish species “eligible” fish for derby entry must meet the following
minimum LENGTHS: Whitefish (21 in)      Lake Trout (24 in)          Perch (11 in)  
In case of a tie the winner will be determined by the time and date the said fish was weighed in.

5. Conditions and Means of Contest Entry
Any holder of a Derby Ticket for which he or she has paid the sum of $30.00, shall be
entitled to obtain, without further payment, an Ice Fishing Derby Entry Form.
The completion and production of same at the appropriate time will allow the entrant to
have his/her catch recorded at a weigh-in station for the purposes of the contest sub­ject
to all other regulations of the Fishing Derby. Such entry forms
must be obtained and completed at the weigh-in station and the weigh-in station will extract
a scale from said fish for analysis. (to confirm  winning fish were caught in Lake Simcoe)

6. Prize Categories
First prize will be awarded for the largest fish by weight caught by the contestant for the following classifications:

7. Rules and Weigh-In Procedures
a) ALL ENTRY TICKETS MUST BE OBTAINED AND COMPLETED PRIOR TO CATCHING ANY FISH
THAT THE CONTESTANT INTENDS TO ENTER IN THE DERBY.
b) All designated prize fish, in order to qualify, must be taken by the contestant in their
UNFROZEN AND FRESH STATE, FORTHWITH AFTER CATCHING SAME,
to any one of the Weigh-in stations. Weigh- in stations will be closed at 6 pm. daily
c) The Derby Entry Card in the name of the contestant must be produced at the time of
presenting the fish for recording purposes before such fish may be accepted.
d) Weigh-In:  I) All fish accepted as being qualified for Derby cash prizes shall be recorded
as to weight and length and tagged and returned to the con­testant by the Weigh-in Official.

8. Statutory Declaration
After the closing of the Derby all prize winning entrants are required to provide
a statutory declaration indicating that the fish was caught legally.

9. The Ice Fishing Derby Committee
The Committee reserves the right to amend, interpret and apply the aforesaid rules
and regulations and contest conditions at any time or times and the decision(s)
of the Committee shall be final in this respect. All contestants upon
completing the Derby Entry form are deemed to have granted this authority to the
Derby Committee.

10. Eligibility
The following are ineligible to enter the Derby:
a)  Any members of the Ice Fishing Derby Committee
b)  Anyone who owns or manages/operates Ice Hut Rentals or ice transportation services
c)  Any other designated “Derby Official”
d)  Only one fish prize will be awarded per ticket.

11. Fees
      One $30 entry card enables entrant to weigh-in qualifying fish.        
NOTE: Anyone found to be cheating in this event may be prosecuted for fraud, and is
liable to a substantial fine and imprisonment for a minimum of two years or a maxi­mum
of ten years where the subject matter is of a value greater than $200.00

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Rods and lines only
  • Competitors must be issued with tickets prior to competition
  • Fish not dammed or netted
  • Amateurs only may participate
  • (amateur defined as anyone who does not use this sport as their means of livelihood)
  • Maximum two rods per competitor

AWARDS
Leader board & winners will be posted on web site  www.georginafishingseries.ca
The cash  and prizes will be awarded at the Friday night CIFC orientation meeting at the
Royal Canadian Legion in Sutton February 19, 2010
Cash or prizes will be mailed to winners who could not attend the Friday night meeting.
