The Great Georgina Ice Fishing Derby is strictly a derby and not a tournament and is run using standard practice derby formats.
This is a fishing event that the whole family, fishing buddies and couples can enjoy.
You can fish anywhere on Lake Simcoe for up to fourteen days, from sun up until dark.
It’s simple, just purchase a ($30) 14-day ticket and go fishing on LAKE SIMCOE, on the ice, in your personal shelters or in a commercially rented fish hut, any time of the day.
When you catch a Lake Trout, White Fish or Perch, which is over our minimum fish lengths (Whitefish –21”, Lake Trout -24”, Perch -11”) you take it to one of our five weigh-in centres. The attendant will weigh your fish and give you a weigh-in slip with your fish species and fish weight (you must have your Great Georgina Fishing Series ticket with you). This information will be entered in our contest data bank and placed on our website results page (so you can check your position at any time)
We will be paying down ten (10) positions for each of the three selected fish species
- Lake Trout
- White Fish
- Perch
with $1,000 going for first prize in each category and $600 to second, and on down to $50 for tenth place. There will be a total cash payout of $8,000 for this derby.
Come get your share.
Payouts will be at the Royal Canadian Legion Sutton at the Canadian Ice Fishing Championship rules night on Feb. 19, 2010.
Should you not be able to attend, prize moneys will be mailed out to you.
